Barcelona struggles to register Olmo, Victor before deadline

Barcelona has confirmed its request for a new license from the Royal Spanish Football Federation for midfielders Dani Olmo and Pau Victor.

The future of the attacking midfielder continues to be a soap opera, and he would already be a free agent, but Barça continues to exhaust its options to sign him.

They need to register both players before midnight on December 31 to allow them to play this season.

The club denied asking for “a moratorium” for additional time.

Meanwhile, LaLiga has stated it has not presented any alternative to facilitate this registration.

The Blaugrana emphasized their commitment to comply with regulations while seeking solutions.

In a statement, FC Barcelona announced the request for a new license for Dani Olmo and Pau Victor.

The club clarified that it has neither requested a moratorium nor received one from any governing body concerning registration.

Furthermore, this statement emphasizes the club’s commitment to transparency during the registration process for all stakeholders involved.

Despite these efforts, the club chaired by Joan Laporta faces challenges.

The Court of First Instance 47 in Barcelona denied the precautionary measure. Consequently, both players’ registrations were prevented.

This decision arose from financial constraints linked to Financial Fair Play regulations. As a result, the club faced challenges in compliance.

Consequently, the Catalan club must explore new options to register Dani Olmo and Pau Victor.

Notably, Olmo’s contract includes a clause allowing him to leave the club as of January 1, 2025, making him a target for other teams.

While the Spanish international is likely to receive numerous offers, he might choose to stay with Barça.

If he remains unregistered, a loan for the remainder of the season could be a viable option.

The Blaugrana do not favor financial levers. Instead, they hope to utilize alternative strategies, such as selling VIP boxes at the future Camp Nou, to facilitate player registration.

Nevertheless, LaLiga clubs have expressed their support, urging management to scrutinize contracts closely.

This diligence aims to prevent issues like past payment failures or contract breaches.

After the latest statement from Barça, LaLiga reiterated that, as of December 31, the club had not proposed any alternative compliant with economic control regulations.

This situation complicates the registration of players starting January 2.
