Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has appointed his elder brother, Alhaji Adamu Mohammed, as the Emir of the newly created Duguri Emirate.
The appointment was officially announced on Friday during a ceremony held at the Emir’s Palace in Duguri, Alkaleri Local Government Area, where the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Aminu Hammayo, presented the appointment letter on behalf of the governor.
Speaking at the event, Hammayo urged the new Emir to support the state government’s policies and programs aimed at fostering growth and sustainable development across Bauchi.
In his acceptance speech, Emir Adamu Mohammed expressed profound gratitude to Governor Bala Mohammed for the confidence reposed in him.
He prayed for divine guidance and pledged loyalty to both the Bauchi State Government and the Bauchi Emirate Council, promising to serve diligently and promote peace and unity within his domain.
Similarly, Alhaji Jibrin D. Hassan was also appointed as the Emir of Bununu Emirate.
His appointment letter was also presented by the SSG, who charged the new monarch to uphold the rule of law, ensure inclusiveness among the various tribes, and maintain peace in his community.
Responding, the new Emir of Bununu thanked Governor Bala Mohammed for the honour bestowed upon him and vowed not to disappoint the government or the people of Bauchi State.
Daily Trust had earlier reported that Governor Bala Mohammed signed a law creating 13 new emirates across the state a move aimed at decentralizing traditional administration and bringing governance closer to the people.
The Duguri Emirate is among the newly established councils, reflecting the administration’s ongoing effort to reform traditional leadership structures for better local representation.
