Bauchi, Nigeria — The Bauchi State Police Command has confirmed that no student abductions have occurred, crediting this success to proactive visibility policing and intelligence-led operations.
Specifically, the Command attributes this achievement to rigorous patrols and strategic collaboration with local communities.
During a familiarization tour on Wednesday, State Commissioner of Police Sani-Omolori Aliyu addressed Assistant Inspector General (AIG) Abubakar Aliyu, who oversees Zone 12, comprising Bauchi and Gombe States.
Notably, Commissioner Aliyu announced the imminent launch of the Inspector-General of Police’s Safe School Protection Squad.
This initiative will deploy advanced intelligence tools and trained personnel to secure educational institutions nationwide.
“Our visibility policing and intelligence operations have ensured zero student abductions,” stated Commissioner Aliyu.
“To strengthen these efforts, we are launching the IGP’s Safe School Protection Squad, aligning with the national goal of safer schools.”
Additionally, the Command has intensified patrols, established crime-prone area checkpoints, and conducted joint operations with local security groups.
Furthermore, rapid response teams, including the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, promptly address distress calls.
Public awareness campaigns also educate citizens on crime prevention.
Commissioner Aliyu expressed optimism that AIG Aliyu’s visit would motivate officers and refine strategies against emerging threats.
In response, AIG Aliyu praised Bauchi’s peacekeeping record and urged officers to uphold the IGP’s crime reduction vision.
He emphasized accountability and professionalism in policing.
His oversight extends to Gombe State, where he advocates for similar security measures and community involvement.
As Bauchi maintains its safety record, the police remain dedicated to protecting residents, especially students.
These measures aim to bolster public trust and ensure long-term security.
Through sustained vigilance and innovation, the Command strives to uphold its mandate effectively.
