Benue ambush: 7 more bodies of security operatives recovered

Authorities in Benue State have recovered seven additional bodies of security operatives killed in a violent ambush by suspected herders and local militia.

The attack occurred on September 19 at Agu Centre in Katsina-Ala/Ukum Local Government Area, where armed assailants ambushed security personnel.

Among the dead are nine police officers, one hunter, and one civil protection guard. The bodies of six officers and the civil protection guard have been deposited in a local morgue.

Assistant Superintendent of Police John Aledu, attached to Operation Zenda, remains missing, with search and rescue efforts ongoing.

Security agencies have apprehended 15 additional suspects in connection with the attack, raising the total number of arrests to 21.

The Benue State Police Command has assured residents of its commitment to working with other security agencies to bring the perpetrators to justice, while search operations continue for the missing officer.
