The Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Benue State chapter, Comrade Victoria Asher, has died shortly after child birth.

This was contained in a statement issued by the NUJ State Secretary, Mr. Moses Akarhan.

According to Mr. Akarhan, Asher died 8am on Saturday at the Federal Medical Centre in Makurdi following a cesarean section surgery.

The statement said she was delivered of a set of twins – a male and a female – before complications arose.

Before her election as the NUJ Chairman, Benue Council, in December 2018, she was a staff of the state-owned radio station.

Prior to her, one Mr. David Ukuma held the post for two months before his sudden death last year.
