Benue set to brew prosperity with local juice, beer production by August 2025
DDM News

Benue State will begin large-scale production of juice and beer using local crops by August 2025.
This development is led by the Benue Investment and Property Company (BIPC), under the leadership of Raymond Asemakaha, Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) gathers.
Asemakaha is the managing director and chief executive officer of BIPC.
He announced the plan during a project inspection tour across Zone B in Benue State on Tuesday.
The move is part of the state government’s efforts to promote agro-industrialisation and strengthen the local economy.
It also aims to create employment for youths and boost rural incomes.
Asemakaha revealed that the state-owned juice factory, inactive since 2015, will resume production in the next 90 days.
He added that the factory is undergoing renovation and nearing readiness for full operations.
Asemakaha noted that the beer production plant is already 90 percent complete and will soon be fully functional.
The beer and juice plants will depend on local crops such as rice, cassava, and oranges.
“We are creating businesses that will grow the economy and involve both government and local communities,” he said.
According to him, Benue farmers will supply the raw materials needed for the factories.
He emphasized that cassava and rice will be used in beer production.
The juice factory will process oranges that are currently exported informally to neighbouring countries.
He expressed frustration over the state losing value by exporting unprocessed oranges.
“We have the best oranges in the world. We should not keep exporting them raw,” he added.
To support farmers, BIPC will provide improved seedlings and training for better crop yields.
Farmers will also receive guaranteed off-take agreements to ensure stable markets for their produce.
Asemakaha urged residents to grow more cassava and sorghum to support the brewery’s production.
He assured that the brewery will create hundreds of direct jobs for young people across the state.
Thousands of farmers will also benefit indirectly through the supply chain and backward integration.
“This aligns with the vision of His Excellency, Hyacinth Iormem Alia,” Asemakaha stated.
He explained that the factories will stimulate other sectors like logistics, packaging, and retail.
The initiative represents a shift from exporting raw crops to processing and value addition.
With work progressing quickly, Benue could become a model for agro-industrial growth in Nigeria.
Farmers are already preparing for the planting season to meet the factories’ raw material demands.
Benue’s journey toward self-sustaining agro-processing industries is clearly gaining momentum.
