A tragic domestic altercation in Benue State has resulted in the death of a young man, allegedly at the hands of his wife.

Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) gathered that the incident occurred in the early hours of July 31, 2025, in Agera Mbaashia community, Gaav district, located within Konshisha Local Government Area of the state.

The deceased, identified as 32-year-old Tersoo Emmanuel, reportedly died following a physical confrontation with his wife, Salome Tersoo.

According to preliminary investigations by the Benue State Police Command, the couple engaged in a violent domestic quarrel that escalated fatally.

During the scuffle, Salome allegedly kicked her husband in the stomach and bit his right hand, causing him to collapse suddenly.

The fatal collapse reportedly happened in the presence of their immediate family members who could not prevent the situation from spiraling out of control.

The incident was formally reported to the Konshisha Divisional Police Headquarters around 10:30 a.m. by the victim’s father, Emmanuel Achir.

Upon receiving the report, police officers from the division quickly mobilized to the scene to begin an investigation.

Officers documented physical evidence at the residence and arranged for the evacuation of the body to God’s Approved Funeral Service mortuary.

An autopsy is expected to confirm the precise cause of death and guide further legal action.

The suspect, Salome, fled the scene immediately after the incident and has remained at large since then.

The Benue State Police Command has now launched a manhunt to apprehend the fleeing woman, with detectives intensifying search efforts across nearby communities and neighboring states.

A police spokesperson confirmed that the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Makurdi has taken over the case.

Authorities have appealed to members of the public to provide credible information on the whereabouts of the suspect.

The shocking incident has sent waves of grief through the Gaav district, where both the victim and his wife were reportedly well-known.

Community members expressed sorrow over the tragedy, lamenting how a domestic misunderstanding escalated into irreversible loss.

Some neighbors disclosed that the couple had a history of heated arguments, although no prior police report had ever been filed.

Human rights groups have once again called attention to the rising number of fatal domestic violence cases in rural communities.

They stressed the urgent need for community-level interventions, counseling services, and conflict resolution education to prevent such tragedies.

The case has also reignited conversation about gender-based violence and the complexities of marital conflicts in Nigeria.

As investigations continue, the late Tersoo Emmanuel’s family is left mourning the sudden and violent loss of their son.

Police have assured the public that justice will be pursued and that the suspect will be brought to face the full weight of the law.
