Biafra: Court Adjourns Nnamdi Kanu’s Trial Till October 17

The federal high court sitting in Abuja has adjourned the trial of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, till October 17

The federal high court sitting in Abuja has adjourned the trial of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mr Nnamdi Kanu, till October 17, Elombah.com had gathered.

The trial which was due for continuation did not hold as scheduled for some unknown reasons.

Six of the charges, including that of terrorism, were struck out early in 2017.

The trial judge, Justice Binta Murtala-Nyako, however, adjourns the trial till October 17 for continuation.

Mr Kanu, who was arrested in October 2015, was last arraigned on April 25 during which he was granted bail.

He was arrested and docked on 11-count charge bordering on terrorism and treasonable felony.

Presently, his lawyer, Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor is seeking variation of his bail conditions which he considered extreme.

Kanu was barred from granting interviews and not to hold any rally, or be in a crowd of more than 10 people while on bail.

The IPOB leader has, however, flouted most of his bail conditions and expectations were rife that he would be sent back to prison before the failed to hold.

Meanwhile, three of his co-defendants, Chidiebere Onwudiwe, Benjamin Madubugwu and David Nwawuisi remain in prison custody.
