BIZARRE! Zamfara Committee demand N3.2m just to probe chieftaincy title on notorious bandit [document]

The Committee set up by Zamfara State Government to investigate the conferment of chieftaincy title on a notorious bandits’ leader, Adamu Aleiru, has requested three million, two hundred and ninety three thousand, eight hundred Naira  to carry out their task.

This was disclosed in an official document dated July 21, 2022, containing the application by the Committee to the Secretary to the State Government, signed by the Secretary to the Committee, Musa Garba Bukkuyum Esq., and obtained by News Band.

The Committee comprises of the Chairman and five other members, while those captures in the expenses include Balliff, Witness, and two security assistants.

According to the document, the Committee listed, amongst other things sitting allowances for the Chairman of the Committee, sitting allowances for the members and the secretary, refreshment, sitting allowances for the first security assistant and second security assistant respectively, as well as other “miscellaneous” expenditures.

Details of the application entitled “Application for funds to finance the committee to investigate all issues pertaining to the conferment of a traditional title to bandits Adamu Aleiru“, addressed to the Secretary to the State Government, states as follows:

“I humbly write to apply on behalf of the above mentioned committee for the release of funds to finance its activities which has since commenced today, Thursday, 21st July, 2022.

“The total amount requested hereby is three million, two hundred and ninety three thousand, eight hundred Naira (N3,293,800.00) only and the breakdown is as follows:

1. Sitting allowances (Chairman)                   — N30,000.00 x 14 days       = N420,000.00
2. Sitting allowances (Members/Secretary)   — N20,000.00 x 5 x 14 days = NI,400,000.00
3. Stationeries and Report                             — N100,000.00
4. Ballif/Witness Expenses                             — N200,000.00
5. Refreshment                                              — N500,000.00
6. Sitting Allowances (Security assistant I)    — N10,000 x 14 = N140,000.00
7. Sitting Allowances (Security assistant II)   — N10,000 x 14 = N98,000.00 (sic)
8. Miscellaneous                                            — N435,800.00
   TOTAL                                                       — N3,293,800.00

“Sir, the above Committee will be very grateful to you if the application for funds to finance its activities is granted,” the application concluded.
