Bode George, former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has accused President Bola Tinubu of coercing PDP governors to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

This allegation comes on the heels of the defection of Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, and the immediate past governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, along with all members of the PDP in the state to the APC.

Bode George claims that Tinubu is using instruments of state to coerce PDP governors to defect to the APC, citing the Delta State situation as an example.

George expressed shock at the collapse of the PDP’s structure in Delta State, stating that it’s unimaginable for an organized party like PDP to lose its governors to an “unorganized party” like APC.

Bode George has been a vocal critic of Tinubu’s leadership, accusing him of being dictatorial and controlling the APC with an iron fist, alongside Abdulahi Ganduje.

George has also questioned Tinubu’s educational credentials, calling him a “bundle of lies” and alleging that he stole hugely from Lagos State during his tenure as governor.

The PDP has not officially responded to Bode George’s claims, but the party’s chieftain’s comments have sparked debate about the APC’s tactics and the PDP’s internal dynamics.

The Presidency has denied claims of sabotaging opposition events, stating that Tinubu had no involvement in the alleged disruptions.

The defection of PDP governors to the APC, allegedly due to coercion by President Tinubu, has significant implications for Nigeria’s political landscape.

Bode George’s vocal criticism of Tinubu’s leadership and credentials adds fuel to the fire, highlighting the deep-seated divisions within the country’s political parties.

Chief Bode George has accused President Bola Tinubu of secretly pressuring PDP governors to defect to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), warning that Nigerians must “open their eyes” before democracy is completely hijacked, according to a report by another reliable source.

“I can tell you confidently that Bola Tinubu and his group are coercing our governors to join the APC,” George said on Wednesday during a Lagos PDP event.

However, he warned that the President’s tactics will not succeed because the power ultimately belongs to the people.

“The power does not belong to him. People of this country, please open your eyes.”

George’s allegations come amid rising defections in the PDP and growing concerns that the party may be weakened ahead of 2027.

But he insists that manipulation and intimidation won’t solve Nigeria’s problems.

“They are trying to create fear, to scatter the opposition, but Nigerians are wiser now.”

He maintained that PDP governors and leaders must resist these tactics and defend democratic values instead of bowing to pressure.

“If our governors allow themselves to be bought or pushed into APC, they will be judged by history. The party that gave them a platform deserves loyalty, not betrayal.”

George called on all party faithful to remain strong and resist efforts to collapse PDP:

“The APC wants a one-party state, but we must not allow it. Democracy thrives on options, not intimidation”, he stated.
