Boko Haram Attack Borno IDP Camp, NDLEA Checkpoint, Kill 12

Boko Haram insurgents reportedly attacked an Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camp located in Gamboru Ngala local government area of Borno State, killing seven persons.
The insurgents, according to reports, stormed the camp in two Hilux trucks at about 11pm on Friday.
Bamus Garba, an eyewitness, told TheCable that the insurgents attacked the camp from the rear, firing an RPG into it after jumping the fence.
Security sources, who confirmed the incident, said the insurgents also detonated improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in the camp.
The security personnel said the explosion was followed by intense shooting while the IDPs scampered for safety.
“A lot of the IDPs secured various degrees of injuries by stray bullet while some of them were hit by the bullets,” one of the sources said.
He added that the attackers were, however, repelled by the military before they entered the camp premises.
The attacked IDP camp is currently on lockdown.
The Borno state police command police is yet to confirm the attack.
The said attack came a few hours after the insurgents attacked a checkpoint of the Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and a commercial bus stop in the area.
Five persons were reportedly killed in that attack.
