Attack in Borno State: 2 Killed by Boko Haram

In the early hours of Wednesday, the Maritime Component of Operation Hadin Kai swiftly repelled a Boko Haram infiltration attempt. Suspected terrorists targeted the Naval Base Lake Chad near Fish Dam, Baga, in Borno State. Immediately, naval personnel engaged the assailants in a fierce gunfight, forcing them to retreat.

According to intelligence sources, the attackers struck around 1:00 a.m., aiming to destroy newly acquired Swamp Boggeys. These specialized vehicles, procured by the Borno State Government, play a vital role in clearing waterways. Fortunately, the terrorists failed to access them despite their destructive intentions.

During the intense two-hour battle, reinforcements arrived from nearby Baga to bolster the defense. Although the terrorists escaped under heavy fire, they caused minimal damage. An ambulance and two vehicles were destroyed, while several personnel sustained injuries. However, the Swamp Boggeys remained unharmed.

Following the attack, the Air Component Command launched pursuit operations along Lake Chad’s waterways. Presently, troops are tracking the fleeing terrorists to neutralize further threats. Consequently, these efforts aim to prevent future attacks and maintain regional security.

Investigations are ongoing as authorities gather more details about the incident. Meanwhile, the Nigerian Armed Forces reaffirm their commitment to protecting critical infrastructure. Ultimately, their relentless operations ensure stability in insurgency-affected areas.
