It said in a press statement:
The attention of Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has been drawn to online Media stating that 800 Boko Haram Terrorists were given Amnesty.
The story is false and has no iota of truth in it as DHQ has never mentioned Amnesty in all its statement.
In line with United Nations convention Charter, which Nigeria is a signatory, The Defence Headquarters came up with an initiative Operation Safe Corridor”.
This initiative is geared towards rehabilitating and reintegrating the repentant terrorists back into normal life in the society.
Therefore, the general public should disregard these insinuations as the initiative “Operation Safe Corridor” should not be taken as Amnesty.
We hereby emphasise and stand our position that no act of Terrorism or Criminality will be condoned in our nation by any group. Please be guided.
TROOPS CLEAR CATTLE RUSTLERS AND ARMED BANDITS OUT OF MARU
In another development, troops have carried out a joint clearance operation in Maru today.
This is in continuation of the efforts of getting rid of the menace of cattle rustling, armed banditry and other criminality in the country generally and in the northwest geo-political region.
The exercise was conducted under the auspices of Operation SHARAN DAJI.
It was carried out by troops of 1 Brigade Nigerian Army, in conjunction with the Nigeria Police in Zamfara State.
Although most of the targeted suspected cattle rustlers and armed bandits have escaped, the joint team recovered substantial quantity of arms and ammunitions in the area.
It is equally believed some of the criminals escaped with gunshot wounds.
The team is still combing the general area for such persons.
Consequently, the public in Zamfara, Sokoto, Katsina and Kaduna States in particular, are requested to report any suspicious persons especially those with gunshot wounds.
