Borno State Governor gives N30 Million to slain Army Officer’s family

MAIDUGURI, Borno State – In a heartfelt act of compassion, Borno state Governor Babagana Umara Zulum has contributed N30 million.

This donation aims to support the family of the late Lieutenant Colonel Thomas Ebisingha Alari during this difficult time.

He recently lost his life in the ongoing struggle against Boko Haram insurgents in the Timbuktu Triangle.

The donation was made during a personal visit by Governor Zulum to the widow of the fallen officer on Saturday.

Additionally, the Governor expressed his heartfelt condolences, extending sympathies not only to the family of Lt. Col. Alari but also to all families who have suffered losses in the fight against terrorism in the region.

“Yesterday, we sent a high-level state government delegation to the funeral.

“I really felt it was important to personally express my condolences on behalf of both the government and the people,” Zulum shared.

He emphasized how vital it is to honor those who have sacrificed everything for peace in Borno.

In his speech, Zulum mentioned that the donation aimed to help the family secure a home.

This was a crucial step in supporting them during this difficult time.

He added, “I’ve heard that Lt. Col. Alari doesn’t have a personal house.

So, we’re giving a token donation of N30 million for his family to buy a house.” This gesture truly reflects the government’s commitment.

Moreover, he reassured the grieving family that the government would continue to assist the families of fallen heroes.

These heroes have dedicated their lives to protecting our nation, and their families deserve ongoing support.

The presentation ceremony saw attendance from many dignitaries, like Major General Waidi Shuaibu, Theatre Commander of Operation Hadin Kai, along with Major General Chieiebere Ejike, Sector 2 Commander.

Their presence highlighted the importance of the event.

Others in attendance included Senator Kaka Shehu Lawan and House of Representatives members Engr Bukar Talba and Ahmed Jaha. Additionally, several state government officials were present, showing a unified front in support of the military families.

This generous donation really highlights the Borno State government’s commitment to supporting military personnel and their families. Particularly, it acknowledges the sacrifices made in the battle against Boko Haram and other insurgent threats.
