Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has announced that the 38 members of Christ Apostolic Church, Eruku, abducted by bandits, have been freed.
The governor thanked President Bola Tinubu for his “hands-on approach,” saying he personally led efforts to secure their release.
Tinubu even canceled his trip to the G20 Meeting in South Africa to prioritize the situation in Kwara and Kebbi states.
The governor also appreciated security agencies, including the Office of the National Security Adviser, DSS, Nigerian Army, and Nigeria Police, for their roles in the rescue.
The abductees were taken during a November 18 attack that killed three people, and the bandits had initially demanded a ₦3.8 billion ransom, later reduced to ₦760 million.
