Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has formally joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC), confirming widespread speculation about his political alignment ahead of the 2027 general elections.
On Monday, Atiku shared a photo on his X account holding his ADC membership card, accompanied by the caption, “It’s official.”
This announcement follows his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in July, which he attributed to the party’s prolonged internal crisis that, according to him, had eroded its structure and unity.
Atiku’s move is seen as a significant step in the ongoing opposition realignment aimed at challenging the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the next elections.
