Breaking: Court Backs INEC For Rejecting Zamfara APC Candidates

Published

on

A Federal High Court in Abuja has upheld the decision of the Independent National Electoral Commission [INEC] to reject all political candidates of the All Progressives Congress [APC] from Zamfara State for the next general elections.

The judgment followed a suit filed in the name of APC by some individuals challenging INEC to exclude the party in Zamfara State.

The presiding judge, Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu, in her ruling on Friday, said that INEC acted within its powers.

It could be recalled that INEC recently refused to include all APC political candidates in Zamfara in its list of participants.

Justice Ojukwu said that INEC acted in good faith to curb impunity among political parties and politicians.

She also stated that the move is to ensure that rule of law is always adhered to by political players.
