BREAKING: Court bars David Mark, Aregbesola from ADC leadership

A Federal High Court sitting m in Abuja has issued an interim order restraining David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola from acting as National Chairman and National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), respectively.

The court also directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to refrain from recognizing them in those positions until a pending motion is heard.

The ADC has been embroiled in a leadership tussle, with Nafiu Bala Gombe, a former Deputy National Chairman, contesting INEC’s decision to acknowledge the new leadership led by Mark and Aregbesola.

Bala claims he remains the party’s legitimate chairman, citing the party’s constitution and succession procedures.

Meanwhile, INEC had updated its records to reflect Mark as Chairman and Aregbesola as Secretary, alongside other members of the new National Working Committee (NWC).

This recognition followed the dissolution of the previous NWC led by Chief Ralph Nwosu during the party’s 99th National Executive Committee meeting in Abuja.

The ADC has dismissed claims of any ongoing court case, stating that the party has completed the administrative process of changing its leadership.

The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, emphasized that INEC’s recognition validates the party’s administrative process.
