A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has dismissed a suit seeking to stop former President Goodluck Jonathan from contesting in the 2027 presidential election.
The presiding judge, Justice Peter Lifu affirmed that Jonathan remains eligible to run for office based on earlier judicial pronouncements.
In its ruling, Justice Lifu held that previous judgments delivered by the Federal High Court in Yenagoa and upheld by the Court of Appeal had already settled the issue regarding Jonathan’s constitutional eligibility to seek another term in office.
