A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has issued an interim order restraining the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions from proceeding with any disciplinary action against the lawmaker representing Kogi Central, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.
The order was granted on Tuesday by Justice Obiora Egwuatu, following an ex parte application lodged by Akpoti-Uduaghan’s legal representatives.
With this ruling, the Senate committee cannot longer take any action against Natasha until further rulings on the matter.
Moreover, the verdict comes as the committee was set to meet and probably impose an indefinite suspension on the senator.
However, this interim injunction halts all proceedings on the matter pending further judicial review.
