BREAKING: Court sacks rep member for forging primary school certificate

Elections Petition Tribunal sitting in Kano, has cancelled the election of member representing Tarauni Federal Constituency, Mr Mukhtar Yarima, of the New Nigeria People’s Party—NNPP over forgery.

The Independent National Electoral Commission—INEC had declared Yarima winner in the February 25 election.

He defeated Hafizu Kawu of All Progressives Congress—APC.

Though, Kawu after the election filed an application, challenging the victory of Mr Yarima on the ground of forgery of primary school certificate.

However, in a landmark judgement on Thursday, a three-member panel of the tribunal ruled that the primary school certificate Mr Yarima presented to INEC was forged.

The tribunal held that Hausawa Primary School, which Mr Yarima claimed to have attended had disown the certificate as the name of the respondent is not on its record.
