A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has on Thursday sacked the senator representing Niger-East Senatorial District, Senator David Umaru as the candidate for the 2019 general election.

Justice F. O. Giwa Ogunbanjo, in a judgment, said Mr. Mohammed Sani Musa won the All Progressives Congress [APC] primary held on October 2, 2018 and not Senator Umaru.

Justice Ogunbanjo, therefore, ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to accept Mr. Sani Musa as the authentic candidate.

The judge noted that Musa garnered over 29,000 votes, while Umaru scored over 5,000 in the primary election.

He also ordered directed APC to submit his name to INEC as the rightful candidate.

Senator Umaru is the incumbent Chairman of Senate Committee of Judiciary.
