Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) reports that Professor Jibril Aminu, a former Minister of Education and Petroleum, has died at the age of 85.

His death occurred on Thursday in Abuja after a long period of illness, according to a reliable family source.

Funeral prayers for the late professor are scheduled to hold at 2:00 p.m. today at the Abuja National Mosque.

Following the Islamic rites in Abuja, his remains will be transported to Yola.

He will then be taken to his hometown in Song Local Government Area of Adamawa State for final burial.

Professor Aminu was widely known for his outstanding contributions to Nigeria’s education, health, and petroleum sectors.

Born in August 1939, he distinguished himself early in life as a brilliant student.

In pursuit of academic excellence, he obtained a PhD in Medicine from the Royal Postgraduate Medical School in London in 1972.

Aminu made his mark not only as a cardiologist but also as a dedicated public servant.

He first served as Minister of Education, where he championed reforms aimed at revitalizing Nigeria’s educational system.

From 1989 to 1992, he was appointed Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, where he played a pivotal role in shaping Nigeria’s energy policies.
