Mr Douye Diri, governor of Bayelsa State and governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has been declared the winner of the State governorship election.
The incumbent governor won his re-election after the results of the last local government, Southern Ijaw was announced by the State’s Returning Officer of the commission, Prof. Faruq Kuta.
Diri won six local government areas to win while his closest rival, Timipre Sylva of the All Progressives Congress (APC) won two local government areas.
He polled a total of 175,196 votes while Sylva trailed with 110,108 votes.
