BREAKING: ISWAP/ Boko Haram launch twin attack on Dikwa, Marte

Published

on

The Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), an off-shoot of the Boko Haram terrorist group, has launched a twin attack on Dikwa and Marte in Borno State, Northeast Nigeria.

Dikwa town lies about 90 kilometres east of Maiduguri and about 40 kilometres to Marte.

The Nigerian Army 22 Brigade super camp is in Dikwa, while the 153rd Task Force Battalion is based in New Marte.

It was gathered that troops and air support are currently resisting the incursion by ISWAP in Dikwa and Marte.

The situation is still fluid and unfolding.

So far, at least one officer and an unknown number of soldiers were killed when ISWAP dislodged troops in Marte a few days ago.

The attack is happening just a month after ISWAP conducted a daring raid on the task force battalion base located in the abandoned Lake Chad basin quarters in New Marte.
