BREAKING: Moghalu Dominates Online Poll, Challenges Soludo Ahead Of Anambra Election

(DDM) – With less than 48 hours to the much-anticipated November 8 Anambra governorship election, Labour Party (LP) candidate Chief Dr George Moghalu (Ohamadike) has taken a commanding lead in a viral online poll conducted by Igbo History & Facts on X (formerly Twitter).

According to results seen by Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) on Wednesday evening, Moghalu garnered a resounding 80 percent of over 4,600 votes, positioning him far ahead of other contenders.

His closest rival, Charles Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), managed just 13 percent, while Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) polled 4 percent, and Jude Ezenwafor of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) trailed with 3 percent.

The poll, which went viral within hours, drew massive engagement from Anambra residents and diaspora supporters, reflecting a growing wave of enthusiasm around the Labour Party campaign.

Moghalu himself reacted humorously to the poll, saying he “voted for himself” and used the moment to encourage his supporters to translate their online energy into real votes at the polls.

Posting on his official X handle, the LP candidate wrote: “I took this online poll and voted for me.

You can vote online – please come out offline to your polling unit and vote LP! Anambra ga adi mma ozo.”

Political observers say the overwhelming margin in the online poll demonstrates a possible shift in public sentiment across the state, particularly among younger and tech-savvy voters who have been vocal about the need for a new political direction in Anambra.

Moghalu’s post also struck a chord with the OBIdient movement, a passionate base of Labour Party supporters inspired by the ideology of transparency, accountability, and citizen participation championed by Peter Obi.

Many users on X expressed their excitement, with some describing the poll as “a clear message to the political establishment that Anambra wants change.”

The former federal agency boss, who is widely regarded as a reform-minded technocrat, has consistently emphasized his plans to restore integrity, infrastructure, and efficient governance in Anambra if elected.

His campaign slogan, “Anambra ga adi mma ozo” (Anambra will be good again), has become a rallying chant for supporters across local government areas.

Despite his impressive showing online, analysts caution that social media polls do not always translate to actual votes. However, Moghalu’s growing momentum suggests that the Labour Party could be preparing for a strong performance at the ballot box if the enthusiasm translates to physical turnout.

The November 8 election will test the popularity of incumbent governor Charles Soludo, who is seeking to retain power under APGA amid criticisms over his handling of state projects and alleged disconnection from grassroots communities.

As campaign activities intensify, George Moghalu continues to appeal for peace, unity, and credible elections, urging Ndi Anambra to “rise as active citizens and take their destiny in their own hands.”

With the polls opening soon, all eyes are now on Anambra, a state long known for its political sophistication, as voters decide whether to continue with the ruling party or embrace Moghalu’s Labour-powered promise of a new beginning.
