Multiple explosions have struck oil installations in the Bakassi Peninsula.
Separatist fighters believed to be the Black Marine reportedly fired explosives this afternoon with high accuracy.
Local sources said the Biafra armed wing launched the attack from about three kilometres away, causing severe damage to the installations.
Initial reports indicate that two French nationals and five members of the Joint Border Patrol were eliminated in the attack.
In a separate incident, the Dragon Fighter Marine allegedly attacked the Rapids d’Intervention Battalions (BIR) in Isangele Subdivision, successfully disarming three officers during the confrontation.
When newsmen reached out to the Operational Coordinator of the Biafra Nations League (BnL), Henry Edet, he confirmed the incidents.
However, he called on the Federal Government of Nigeria to release Nnamdi Kanu on the 20th, warning that failure to do so could escalate the situation across the Gulf of Guinea.
BnL, a group that claims control over territories within the Bakassi Peninsula, has long been at loggerheads with the governments of Nigeria and Cameroon.
The group insists that the territory falls under Biafra, and has repeatedly demanded the withdrawal of government forces from the area.
