The bomb was believed to be one of Improvised Explosive Devices [IEDs] recovered from Boko Haram and kept under the custody of the police armory division of the station.

The station is strategically located in the heart of Jimeta, the Administrative headquarters of Adamawa State and is close to a Central Primary School, Nigerian Prisons, NITEL and Jimeta old Market.
