BREAKING: NLC issues ultimatum, to embark on nationwide strike over ASUU

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has issued a two-week ultimatum to the Federal Government to resolve the ongoing strike embarked by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) since February, 2022.

NLC gave the ultimatum in a letter delivered to the Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu during its protest rally on Tuesday.

Speaking at the protest in Ikeja, NLC chairperson, Mrs. Agnes Sessy, urged both the Federal and State governments to take decisive action or risk another version of #ENDSARS protest.

She said: “If the Federal Government does not resolve the strike within two weeks, there would be nationwide mass protest.

“In fact, the ENDSARS protest would be a child’s play.”

News Band earlier reported that NLC commenced a protest in Lagos organised in solidarity with the striking ASUU Union.

The protest rally, which was organised “to get our children back to school”, is currently being held in several states of the federation, featuring Labour members, other unions, as well as civil society groups.

The NLC and other university unions took to the streets of Lagos to protest the ongoing ASUU strike on Tuesday.

More details of the protest will follow…
