Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang has officially joined the All Progressives Congress (APC), marking a significant shift in Nigeria’s political landscape.
The defection was confirmed by APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda, who welcomed Mutfwang to the ruling party, citing a “higher calling to serve the people of Plateau State and Nigeria”.
Mutfwang’s decision to leave the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) stems from the party’s internal crisis, which he believes hinders effective leadership and service delivery.
He expressed gratitude to PDP for providing him a platform to participate in democracy and acknowledged the support of party leaders and members.
The governor’s move aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s administration, aiming to strengthen governance and attract federal projects to Plateau State.
Mutfwang’s defection places all North Central states under APC control, bolstering the party’s influence in the region.
