Protesting supporters of the All Progressives Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party were dispersed on Friday with tear gas by a team of police operatives in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.
The police had stormed the Polo Club axis of Port Harcourt, where both supporters had surprisingly gathered.
It was gathered that the PDP supporters were angry that their counterparts in the APC disregarded the no-protest order of the State Governor, Nyesom Wike.
They were reportedly planning to move to the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission [INEC].
One of the protesters, who identified himself as Oruwari, told NAN that there would have been a clash between the PDP supporters and their counterparts in the APC if the police had not intervened.
