BREAKING: Reps order IGP Idris to apologise to Governor Ortom

Members of the House of Representatives have ordered the Inspector General of Police [IGP], Mr Ibrahim Kpotum Idris to apologise to governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom over remarks by the Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO), Mr. Jimoh Moshood.
It could be recalled that Mr. Moshood had called Governor Ortom a “drowning man” during a heated argument with the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Terver Akase.
The duo had argued over the series of violence that has left many dead since the beginning of the year.
In a motion is sponsored by Rep. Mark Gbillah, the Lawmakers considered a motion demanding his immediate removal for such derogatory remarks.
Not done with that, they have also ordered IGP Idris to provide an unreserved apology to Governor Ortom.
Reacting to the comment by the PPRO, the Ekiti State governor, Mr Peter Ayodele Fayose has stated on his Twitter handle:
“The police authority must retract the comment and tender an unreserved apology to Governor Ortom, the people of Benue State and the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF).”
Writing further, he stated:
“I expect the NGF to also rise in condemnation of this affront on one of its members because an injury to one is an injury to all.
“Besides, it is Governor Ortom that the PPRO insulted on National Television today; it can be any other governor tomorrow.”
Also, an aide to former president, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, Mr Reno Omokri stated on his Twitter handle:
“President Buhari has so politicized the police that they now have the guts to call a serving Governor “failed and drowning’!
“Between Ortom and Buhari, who failed? Who is drowning? Has Ortom’s wife, daughter, boss and colleague publicly condemned him like has happened with Buhari?”
