Buhari Courts Private Sector To Revive, Diversify Economy —Udoma

Udo Udoma said that Buhari admin is focused to make the Nigerian economy globally competitive, more diversified away from mono-economic structure.

The Minister of Budget and National Planning, Senator Udoma Udo Udoma has said that the present administration of President Muhammadu Buhari is focused to make the Nigerian economy globally competitive and more diversified away from its mono-economic structure.

Udoma stated this at the opening of the 23rd Nigerian Economic Summit on Tuesday, October 10, 2017,  jointly organised by the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG), in close collaboration with the Ministry of Budget and National Planning

He said the government working with the private sector as the surest way to achieve that feat faster.

He also said that the present President Buhari government is committed to working with the private sector to achieve faster economic development.

The Nigerian Economic Summit is an annual dialogue platform created under the public – private – partnership (ppp) arrangement with the NESG representing the private sector and Ministry of Budget and National Planning, representing the  public sector

The Minister explained that the Buhari administration has demonstrated clear commitments to working with the private sector through the recent concession of some nation’s airports and other policy interventions  to provide a favourable environment for their business operations in Nigeria.

Senator Udoma further explained that the ERGP document has spelt out clear priorities for implementation and that the private sector has a major role to play to realise its objectives

“Government on its part is committed to faithful implementation of the ERGP by ensuring that our annual budget aligns with the priorities of the ERGP and also special monitoring units have been planned in all MDAs to ensure effective implementation” he said

Senator Udoma, called on the private sector to work towards strengthening the ERGP Implementation Strategy and contribute towards it’s effective implementation

 The key thrust of the summit will seek to create robust stakeholders discussions and deliberations that accentuate the economic framework for opportunities, productivity and employment
