Buhari Hosts Super Eagles Ahead England Friendly Clash

President Muhammadu Buhari, yesterday, May 30, hosted the Super Eagles at the State House in Abuja.
The meeting came ahead of the friendly against the English national team, the Three Lions.
During the meeting, he described the players as “a talented group of young Nigerians who will soon be traveling to Russia carrying the passions and emotions of 180 million people”.
After the meeting, captain of the team, Mikel John Obi, in his vote of thanks to President Buhari said:
“We would like to say a massive thank you for what you’ve been doing for Nigerian football.
“This is the first time we’re going to a competition like this with no issues of money/bonuses.
“All we have to do now is go out there and make Nigeria proud.”
Barely 2 days earlier, the Super Eagles engaged DR Congo in an encounter that ended 1-1 draw.
The match ended draw after the referee points to the spot after Ola Aina pulls down his opponent in the box, resulting to penalty for Congo DR.
Presently, the Eagles have jetted out to London for the friendly against England.
Kenneth Omeruo, Bryan Idowu, Wilfred Ndidi, Mikel John Obi, Ogenyi Onazi, Oghenekaro Etebo, Mikel Agu, Joel Obi, John Ogu, Odion Ighalo, Simeon Nwankwo, Kelechi Iheanacho, Alex Iwobi, Ahmed Musa are among the 24-man team.
Others are Daniel Akpeyi, Ikechukwu Ezenwa, Francis Uzoho, Abdullahi Shehu, Elderson Echiejile, Leon Balogun, William Ekong, Chidozie Awaziem, Ola Aina, Tyronne Ebuehi.
Moses Simon was also on the plane as a further scan on the extent of his injury will be carried out in London.
Also, ahead of their upcoming friendly match against England this weekend, Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki paid the Super Eagles a surprise visit.
