Family members, colleagues, and sympathisers gathered on Friday in Ogbomoso for the burial of Joel Adesiyan, one of the teachers killed during last week’s attack on schools in Oyo state.

The burial ceremony was held at Ayegun Baptist Church in Ogbomoso, where mourners paid their last respects to the deceased teacher amid grief and tears.

Diaspora Digital Media reported that several teachers and students were kidnapped during the coordinated attacks on the schools in the Oriire council area.

In response, the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, visited the affected communities on Saturday and ordered the deployment of additional detectives from the Force Headquarters in Abuja to support ongoing rescue efforts by security agencies.

Police authorities said the reinforcement was aimed at facilitating the safe return of the kidnapped pupils, students and teachers.

Governor Seyi Makinde had earlier disclosed that seven students were abducted from Community Secondary School, while 18 pupils alongside seven teachers were kidnapped from First Baptist Primary and Nursery School.
