CAF Appoints Amaju Pinnick As First Vice-President
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has appointed the embattled president of Nigeria Football Federation, Mr Amaju Pinnick as its First Vice-President.
Announcing the appointment in a statement on its website on Thursday, CAF wrote:
“Following the resignation of the 1st Vice-President Mr. Kwesi Nyantakyi, CAF President, after consulting the members of the Emergency Committee, appointed Mr. Amaju Melvin PINNICK as 1st Vice-President.”
CAF also stated that the decision is “immediately applicable, in accordance with article 27 para. 2 of the Statutes, which will be ratified by the Executive Committee in its session scheduled on the 27 and 28 of September 2018.”
Meanwhile, Pinnick is facing upset at home as the Minister of Sports, Mr Solomon Dalung, on Monday, July 2, told him to vacate office as NFF president.
Mr. Dalung asked him to obey a court order which required him to step aside from the Glass House.
Should Pinnick obey the order, Mr Chris Giwa will take over at the Federation.
Mr Giwa, it could be recalled, has engaged Pinnick in a legal battle over the leadership of the NFF up to the Supreme Court.
