Popular Nollywood actress, Mercy Johnson-Okojie, has dismissed reports claiming she is currently battling cancer.

The rumour began after an old video resurfaced online, sparking fresh concerns over her drastic weight loss.

The viral clip featured Mercy Johnson speaking with veteran actress, Joke Silva, in an emotional interview.

In the video, the mother of four detailed her health scare and a major thyroid surgery she had undergone.

She said doctors found a growth in her thyroid, prompting fears it might be cancerous and required urgent surgery.

According to her, it was a painful period that forced her to confront the reality of a lifelong medication routine.

Furthermore, the actress narrated how doctors advised her to start taking medications daily, without missing any dosage.

“They told me I couldn’t miss my medication, the side effects were scary,” she revealed during the old interview.

She also explained that the discovery was a turning point in her life and family’s health journey.

Mercy described it as a wake-up call, urging people to embrace their health realities without fear or shame.

However, the resurfaced video led many to assume she was currently suffering from cancer.

The speculation intensified due to her recent weight loss, which fans quickly linked to her health challenges.

In response, the actress took to Instagram on Tuesday to clarify her health status to her fans and followers.

Mercy Johnson stated clearly that she is not suffering from cancer, contrary to widespread social media reports.

She explained that the clip being circulated was taken out of context and edited without the full explanation.

She said: “I do not have cancer, that was a past health scare, and I am now doing perfectly fine.”

She added that she only had a thyroid issue which doctors had already treated through surgery.

Mercy Johnson said the swelling in her neck was investigated and dealt with before it became serious.

She showed the scar on her neck from the surgery to reassure fans of her honesty and health progress.

According to her, the video came from an episode of her TV show, Mercy’s Menu, but was wrongly cut.

She emphasized that it was not a current health challenge, but a past medical situation already resolved.

The actress thanked her friends and fans who called and sent her messages of concern and prayers.

She said: “Thank you to everyone who reached out, I appreciate your concern, I am healthy and strong.”

Mercy urged bloggers and content creators to verify information before sharing, especially on health matters.

She also encouraged Nigerians to prioritize regular medical checkups and avoid self-diagnosis based on assumptions.

Meanwhile, her fans continue to celebrate her strength, resilience, and honesty in the face of public scrutiny.

Mercy Johnson remains one of Nollywood’s most beloved stars, admired for her acting and open spirit.

She reassured her followers that she is focused on her family, career, and health with optimism and gratitude.
