Caverton Helicopter Services, the owners of the chopper that nearly killed Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has refused to answer questions put to them by ElombahNews.
ElombahNews had, on Sunday, February 3, sent an inquiry through their email as follows:

Your firm, Caverton Helicopter, blamed hazy weather conditions for the helicopter crash. Preliminary investigation, however, shows the weather is normal on that fateful day in Kogi State. What is your take on that?

You stated in your statement that the crash due to bad weather, did the Pilot inform you about the weather conditions before the crash occurred?

What are the terms and cost of the services contract between the Presidency and Caverton Services?

Caverton, however, pretended never receiving the question and thus never answered.
When contacted via telephone on Tuesday, it became immediately clear that the firm is yet to tell the whole story to Nigerians.
Twice the telephone operators dropped the phone but the doggedness of our correspondent wouldn’t let go.
After some heated arguments on the phone, Caverton Helicopter operators said any and all enquiries should be directed to the legal department as they are in position to answer questions.
When asked to link the legal department up through intercom, they declined.
They were then asked to provide the phone number/numbers through which the department can be accessed, they also declined.
Caverton refused to budge even after our correspondent reminded them of their responsibilities under the Freedom of Information [FoI] Act and also warned then that failure to answer questions could be interpreted by Nigerians they have something to hide.
He further reminded them that the life of the number two citizen is involved hence every Nigerian is rightfully concerned and has right to demand for answers, all to no avail.
