The Central Bank of Nigeria has announced plans to launch its own crypto currency, called the “e-naira”, in October.
This was announced by the Central Bank Governor, Godwin Emefiele on Tuesday.
Recall that in the month of February 2021, the CBN barred commercial banks from dealing in or facilitating transactions in cryptocurrencies.
Central Bank Governor Godwin Emefiele however said the “e-naira” would operate as a wallet against which customers can hold existing funds in their bank account.
