Barcelona clinched a thrilling 5-4 victory against Benfica, while Liverpool secured their seventh consecutive Champions League league win against Lille.

The evening also featured victories for Atlético de Madrid, Monaco, and Atalanta, marking an exhilarating start to Matchday 7.

Tuesday Night’s Highlights

Monaco 1-0 Aston Villa

Wilfried Singo’s early header propelled Monaco to victory in a closely contested match.

The centre-back reacted swiftly to nod in a rebound just eight minutes in, after Emiliano Martínez parried Thilo Kehrer’s powerful shot from a corner.

Despite persistent pressure from Aston Villa, goalkeeper Radosław Majecki delivered a series of impressive saves. His one-handed stops denied both Leon Bailey and Ollie Watkins as the first half concluded.

Atalanta 5-0 Sturm Graz 

Atalanta showcased a dominant performance, securing their first home win of the campaign. Mateo Retegui opened the scoring in the 12th minute, followed by Mario Pašalić volleying in a second goal shortly after halftime.

Five minutes later, Charles De Ketelaere extended their lead. Two late goals, one from Ademola Lookman and another from Marco Brescianini, sealed an emphatic win, bringing Atalanta to 14 points.

Atlético de Madrid 2-1 Bayer Leverkusen

Julián Alvarez’s brilliant brace led Atlético to a remarkable comeback victory despite being down to ten men. After Pablo Barrios received a red card, Piero Hincapie put Leverkusen ahead just before halftime.

Alvarez equalized quickly in the second half, finishing a well-placed pass. After Hincapie’s dismissal, Alvarez completed the comeback with a precise finish in the dying minutes.

Bologna 2-1 Borussia Dortmund

Bologna achieved their first Champions League win with two quick goals against Dortmund. Serhou Guirassy initially gave the visitors a lead with a penalty, but Bologna responded with Thijs Dallinga and Samuel Iling-Junior scoring in quick succession.

This remarkable comeback placed Bologna on five points, while Dortmund remained at 12.

In a tightly contested match, both teams failed to break the deadlock. The first half saw limited chances, but the second half opened up as both sides sought a crucial win

Crvena Zvezda 2-3 PSV Eindhoven

PSV managed to hold off a late surge from Crvena Zvezda after being reduced to ten men. The visitors scored three goals from Joey Veerman’s corner kicks, with Luuk de Jong netting twice.

After Flamingo’s red card, Crvena Zvezda fought back, scoring twice to set up a tense finish.

Liverpool 2-1 LOSC Lille

Liverpool maintained their top position with a narrow victory over Lille at Anfield. Mohamed Salah opened the scoring, marking his 50th European goal for the club.

Despite Aïssa Mandi’s red card for Lille, Jonathan David equalized. However, Harvey Elliott’s deflected strike secured the win, making it seven wins from seven.

Slovan Bratislava 1-3 Stuttgart

Stuttgart handed Slovan Bratislava their seventh league phase defeat, keeping their knockout hopes alive. Jamie Leweling scored twice, converting Deniz Undav’s pass and adding a second after a save from Dominik Takác.

Raphinha’s late goal capped a thrilling comeback for Barcelona, securing their second place in the league phase table. Benfica initially dominated with Vangelis Pavlidis scoring a hat trick.

This marks the first time in Champions League history that a match has ended with a 5-4 scoreline.

Raphinha and Robert Lewandowski’s goals brought Barcelona back into contention, with Lewandowski’s penalty highlighting the intense battle before Raphinha’s decisive strike.
