President Bola Tinubu has extended heartfelt congratulations to Vice President Kashim Shettima on his 59th birthday, commending him as a loyal partner, dependable ally, and an accomplished leader whose dedication to Nigeria has been exemplary.
In a statement personally issued by the President and released on Tuesday through his spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu described his decision to select Shettima as his running mate and eventual deputy as one of the best choices he has ever made.
“Today, September 2, 2025, presents me with another unique opportunity to celebrate you, my brother, partner, and Vice President, as you mark another birthday”, Tinubu wrote.
He praised Shettima’s courage, resilience, and steadfast commitment to the unity and progress of Nigeria, highlighting their shared vision for building a more prosperous nation.
“Your courage, sense of duty, tenacity, determination, and belief in Nigeria’s greatness have remained unshaken”, he added.
While reflecting on Shettima’s record of public service, Tinubu noted his remarkable tenure as a two-term Governor of Borno State and later as Senator representing Borno Central, emphasizing that Shettima had demonstrated that leadership is about service, not privilege, even amid significant challenges.
The President also lauded Shettima’s contributions at the federal level, describing his passion for democracy, governance, and economic development as “remarkable and inspiring.”
