Church usher strangles girlfriend in Akwa-Ibom
An Uyo-based makeup artist and hairstylist, Emrich Effanga, has allegedly been strangled to death by her boyfriend.
The news of Emrich’s death was disclosed by her brother, Ifiok Effanga, a guitarist professionally known as Fiokee, on Saturday, February 8.
News Band understand that the suspect is a member of Full Life Christian Centre-FLCC. He attended the same church with Emrich Effanga, who was also a chorister in the Church.
Though, Fiokee did not state the circumstances of the loss, he only gave a hint when he advised victims of domestic abuse to speak up before it was too late.
Fiokee said, “My heart is shattered. I can’t believe I’m writing this, but my sister is gone. She was taken from us by someone who claimed to love her. I had no idea she was suffering in silence. She never spoke about the abuse, and now it’s too late.
“If you are in an abusive relationship, please, I beg you—speak up. I know it’s not easy. I know fear can make you stay quiet. But silence can be deadly. There are people who care, people who will help you. Please don’t wait until it’s too late.
“Justice will take its course, but no amount of punishment will bring my sister back. If this message can save even one life, then her death will not be in vain.
“Rest in peace, my love. I will miss you forever. 💔 Emrich Effanga”.
Also, the deceased’s cousin, Purim Mercy, has taken to Facebook to disclose that she was killed by her boyfriend, an usher in a church.
“Emrich Effanga, you are no more again. And there was no idea anywhere that you were in an abusive relationship with a guy who claimed to be your lover. And now, he has succeeded in killing you by strangling you to death. An usher in your church for that matter. So sad. My baby Cousin. May your soul. Rest In Peace. Good Bye,” she wrote.
