Clem’s analysis: APGA’s strategy, Soludo’s dry run win in Anambra

(DDM) – Political analyst Clem has offered an in-depth analysis of the recent Anambra bye-election, stressing that the contest was a demonstration of strategy, structure, and political foresight rather than mere chance.

DDM gathered that Clem highlighted how, in Africa and Nigeria, there is a strong tendency for losers to attribute failure to external forces rather than examining their own shortcomings.

He observed that every failed politician tends to claim they were “rigged out,” even when poor preparation contributed to the defeat.

Clem stressed that three critical factors dominate every election contest: money, the candidate, and the party.

These elements complement each other, he explained, noting that APGA’s strong grassroots structure and loyal support base gave it a decisive advantage over rival parties, which he described as a “ragtag assembly.”

He pointed out that APGA treated the bye-election as a dry run for the November 8, 2025 governorship election, deploying all necessary resources to energize and mobilize its supporters.

According to Clem, APGA supporters turned out in large numbers, “thirsty to win,” and their determination ensured the party’s victory.

He further argued that in a contest framed between ₦10,000 and ₦5,000 inducements, all parties engaged in vote buying to some extent.

“But the other parties lacked strategy, clear messaging, and understanding of the opponent’s moves,” Clem said, noting that politics, like warfare, requires careful study and preparation.

Clem evaluated the impact of Peter Obi’s involvement, asserting that the ADC candidate underperformed and failed to galvanize voters.

He explained that Obi initially endorsed Chuma Nzeribe for the Senate seat, and only 48 hours before the election backed the ADC candidate after the tainted Labour Party ticket failed.

Even Obi’s endorsement at the ADC rally lacked clarity and persuasiveness, Clem said, limiting its impact.

He noted that APC and PDP appeared resigned to defeat, engaging in street-level conflicts rather than mounting a focused campaign.

Clem praised Governor Soludo for his active support, saying he demonstrated effective leadership and king-making ability by backing APGA’s strategy and candidate.

He concluded that APGA’s victory was a product of careful planning, resource deployment, and disciplined mobilization, winning “fair and square.”

Clem offered congratulations to the party and its candidate, saluting their political foresight and dedication in securing the bye-election triumph.

He urged all political actors to learn from the contest, emphasizing that elections are won by strategy, structure, and execution, not by lamenting failure after the fact.
