*Reveals secret meeting in Saraki residence over Omolori

Crisis is brewing over the appointment of Acting Clerk of National Assembly.

The crisis is between the Chairman of National Assembly Commission, Adamu Fika and Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki.

However, one of the commissioners, Idi Ningi has distanced himself from any protest letter against the appointment of Sani-Omolori as Acting Clerk to the National Assembly.

Ningi in a statement made available to newsmen revealed how a secret meeting was held in Senate President residence on April 26 over Sani-Omolori appointment.

He explained that during the meeting Saraki expressed disappointment over Omolori appointment as Acting Clerk of National Assembly.

Ningi who was shocked over the letter of protest said he did not sign any letter of protest against appointment of Omolori but only signed attendant at the meeting.

Ningi in the statement said, “I am therefore shocked and surprised to learn that I signed a document.

“No document was presented at the meeting and I did not sign any document but an attendance sheet.

“I could not have signed any document dissociating myself from the decision of the Commission as I had earlier (on the 19th April, 2016) in a hand written note – attached.

“[Ihad] expressed my support for the appointment of Alhaji Sani Omolori as the Clerk to the National Assembly in Acting capacity.

“Let me seize this opportunity to express my deep and sincere respect and loyalty to His Excellency, the President of the Senate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki and the Deputy President of the Senate – Mr. Ike Ekweremadu.

“And to pledge my unflinching loyalty to and confidence on the Executive Chairman of the Commission – Dr. Adamu Mohammed Fika.”

It could be recalled that last week Seven members of the National Assembly Service Commissioners protested against the appointment of Mohammed Sani-Omolori as the Clerk to the National Assembly.

The Commissioners however in the letter supported Efeturi Benedict as the Acting Clerk of the National Assembly.

But the Senate President and Chairman of the National Assembly, Bukola Saraki, in a letter to Mr. Fika which was made available to Journalists argued Mr. Efeturi should have been considered for the position since he ( Efeturi) is the most senior.
