Collapsed Building: Obi Commiserates With Lagos, Advocates Lasting Solution

Vice Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the February 23, 2019 election, Mr. Peter Obi, has commiserated with the Government and people of Lagos State on the collapse, on Wednesday, of a three-storey building in the Ita Faji area of Lagos Island, which claimed several lives, including those of some school children.

Obi’s message was contained in a release on Thursday morning signed by his Media Adviser, Mr. Valentine Obienyem.

Quoting John Done, Mr. Obi said that the tragic incident, like the recent crash of an Ethiopian Aircraft, should elicit the compassion and concern of everyone, because “we are all part of humanity”.

While praying to Almighty God to grant the souls of the dead eternal repose, Obi expressed worry at the continued incidence of collapsed buildings across the country.

He called on relevant agencies and organisations “to double their efforts towards seeking lasting solution to the menace.”

Concluding, the former Anambra State Governor urged public authorities at all tiers to take the issue of mass housing seriously to avoid Nigerian citizens taking up accommodation in uncompleted buildings.
