Como Secure Nico Paz in Landmark €60 Million Deal as Real Madrid Retain Future Buy Back Rights

Italian Serie A club Como have completed one of the most remarkable transfer agreements of the summer after reaching a deal worth €60 million with Real Madrid to retain the services of highly rated Argentine midfielder Nico Paz.

The agreement represents a major statement of intent from the ambitious Italian side, who have rapidly transformed themselves from promotion hopefuls into UEFA Champions League participants. By committing a club record investment to keep one of Europe’s brightest young talents, Como have underlined their determination to compete with the continent’s elite while continuing their impressive rise under the new head coach.

Although Como have successfully secured Paz’s immediate future, the agreement also allows Real Madrid to maintain significant control over the player’s long term career through an enhanced buy back clause that could see the Spanish giants bring him back to the Santiago Bernabeu in the future.

Como Move Quickly to Keep Their Star Player

According to reports from Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport, Como accelerated negotiations before Real Madrid’s existing buy back option was due to expire.

Under the original transfer agreement that saw Paz leave Madrid’s academy for Italy two years ago, Los Blancos retained the right to re-sign the midfielder at a significantly discounted fee during specific transfer windows.

With that deadline approaching, there had been widespread expectations that Madrid would activate the clause and reintegrate the Argentine into their first team squad ahead of the new campaign.

Instead, Como opened negotiations with the Spanish giants and successfully reached a new agreement that effectively removes the immediate buy back option while guaranteeing Paz will remain in Italy for at least another season.

The deal is regarded as one of the biggest financial commitments ever made by the Lombardy-based club and demonstrates the confidence club executives have in both the player and the long term sporting project.

Nico Paz Emerges as One of Serie A’s Brightest Stars

Since arriving at Como, the 21 year old attacking midfielder has developed into one of Serie A’s most exciting young footballers.

Last season proved to be a breakthrough campaign for Paz as he scored 12 league goals while consistently producing creative performances that helped propel Como into an unprecedented Champions League qualification.

His technical ability, composure in possession, intelligent movement and eye for goal quickly attracted attention from several European heavyweights.

Real Madrid remained closely connected to his progress because of the clauses included in the original transfer agreement, while Italian giants Inter Milan were also monitoring his situation with serious interest ahead of the summer transfer window.

Inter were reportedly prepared to negotiate a major transfer if Madrid exercised their buy back option before selling the player for a profit.

However, Como’s swift intervention ensured that neither scenario materialised.

The club’s supporters will now have the opportunity to watch their midfield talisman continue leading the team into what promises to be the biggest season in the club’s modern history.

Real Madrid Protect Their Long Term Interests

While Como can celebrate retaining one of their most valuable assets, Real Madrid also leave negotiations in a favourable position.

The Spanish club originally sold Paz for approximately €6 million while retaining a 50 percent sell on clause and multiple buy back options over several seasons.

Rather than activating the existing clause, Madrid agreed to restructure the entire agreement.

As part of the revised package, Como will pay €60 million in four annual instalments, providing Madrid with significant financial flexibility as they continue planning for the future under newly appointed manager Jose Mourinho.

In return, Real Madrid have negotiated a substantially larger buy back clause valued at €80 million, allowing them to bring Paz back to Spain next summer should his development continue on its current trajectory.

The arrangement provides Madrid with immediate revenue while ensuring they still possess a realistic pathway to reclaim one of the most talented products of their academy.

Huge Boost for Comon Ahead of Champions League Campaign

For Como FC, retaining Nico Paz is arguably the biggest victory of Como’s summer before the transfer window has fully gathered momentum.

Como has built an exciting young squad capable of playing attractive attacking football, and Paz has become the creative heartbeat of that system.

The Argentine’s ability to unlock compact defences, create scoring opportunities and contribute goals himself makes him indispensable as Como prepare for the challenge of balancing domestic football with Champions League commitments.

Club executives are also expected to strengthen other areas of the squad, particularly in defence, to ensure the team can cope with the demands of competing across multiple competitions.

Financial Fair Play regulations will remain an important consideration, but keeping Paz sends a powerful message that Como intend to establish themselves among Italy’s leading clubs rather than merely participating in European competition.

Eyes on a Historic Season

With Nico Paz committed for another campaign, optimism continues to grow around the Stadio Sinigaglia.

Supporters now have renewed belief that the club can compete successfully both in Serie A and on the European stage.

While Real Madrid have wisely protected their future interests through the enhanced buy back clause, Como have secured what matters most for the immediate future: the continued presence of the player who has become the symbol of the club’s remarkable rise.

The coming season will now offer Paz another opportunity to confirm why he is regarded as one of world football’s most promising young midfielders while helping Como chase further history in both Italy and Europe.
