A well-coordinated security operation successfully prevented a kidnapping and rescued 11 abducted individuals in Danmusa Local Government Area, Katsina State. According to a Monday statement by Police Public Relations Officer DSP Abubakar Aliyu, the rescue occurred late Sunday night during a routine patrol. A joint team of security personnel carried out the operation with precision and efficiency.
The team comprised officers from the Nigeria Police Force, the military, the Department of State Services (DSS), and local vigilante groups. DSP Aliyu explained that at approximately 10:30 p.m. on June 8, the security forces intercepted armed bandits fleeing with kidnapped victims. After a fierce gunfight, the criminals abandoned their captives and escaped into the night.
Authorities confirmed that the rescued victims—nine women and two men—had been abducted from various locations, including Damawa, Bakam, and Danmusa town. Fortunately, none sustained serious injuries during the ordeal. The police swiftly reunited them with their families, providing necessary medical and psychological support.
Katsina State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Bello Shehu, commended the security personnel for their bravery and tactical coordination. He emphasized that their swift response ensured the victims’ safe recovery without further harm.
