Critics slam APC as Ganduje urges Anambra, South-East to align with national grid

Critics have accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of causing economic hardship and political instability across Nigeria.

The party’s National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, urged Anambra and other South-East states to align with the ruling party.

Speaking in Awka, he emphasized the need for the region to integrate into national politics for better representation, Diaspora digital media (DDM) reported.

Ganduje compared the South-East’s current political status to being under “rural electrification” instead of the “national grid.”

“You must strive to connect to the center for political empowerment,” he told party supporters at the secretariat inauguration.

Critics dismissed his remarks, arguing that the APC has worsened Nigeria’s economy through inflation, unemployment, and insecurity.

They questioned why the South-East should align with a party that has failed to deliver on its promises.

“APC wants Anambra to connect, but to what end?” one political analyst asked skeptically.

Ganduje praised the Igbo people as nationalistic, emphasizing their presence across Nigeria in various economic and business activities.

“We want to connect you to the center,” he insisted, stressing the importance of full political integration.

Critics argued that invoking unity while leading a government accused of marginalization was nothing more than empty rhetoric.

Anambra APC Chairman, Chief Basil Ejidike, expressed concerns about the neglect of loyal party members in federal appointments.

Despite their contributions, many members in Anambra felt sidelined by the APC-led government at the national level.

Critics used this as evidence that the APC rewards only those who serve its narrow political interests.

Governorship aspirants Paul Chukwuma and Obiora Okonkwo showcased their political strength during the event.

Chukwuma declared that connecting Anambra to the center was essential for the state’s future political success.

Okonkwo promised to lead a strong campaign, vowing to secure an APC victory in the upcoming election.

Nicholas Ukachukwu recounted his long-standing involvement in Anambra politics, urging unity among party members.

Critics remained skeptical, arguing that the APC’s internal struggles could hinder its chances in Anambra’s governorship race.

Despite Ganduje’s appeal, opposition voices insist that the APC must address national issues before seeking more political influence.

They warned that the party’s track record could make its expansion efforts in the South-East extremely difficult.
