A Customs officer, Assistant Superintendent of Customs (ASC) Lawal Tukur, was found dead in a hotel room in Katsina State.
The incident occurred on October 15 at Murjani Hotel, where Tukur had checked in with two women, Khadija Ali and Aisha Lawal.
A third woman, Hafsat Yusuf, reportedly joined them later.
According to report, hotel staff discovered his lifeless body around 8:30 a.m. and immediately raised the alarm, prompting the arrival of security operatives at the scene.
Sources at the hotel said some empty sachets of suspected substances were found in the room’s waste basket.
It was gathered that Khadija and Aisha spent the night with the deceased, while Hafsat visited them later and also lodged in the same hotel.
The officer’s body was taken to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Katsina, where a medical doctor confirmed him dead.
His remains have since been deposited in the mortuary for autopsy.
Meanwhile, the Nigeria Customs Service has been notified of the development, while investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of death.
