Dame Virginia Etiaba Unveils SoapBoxNG; Says I’m Mama Anambra
Former governor of Anambra State, Dame Virginia Etiaba was the Special guest of honour in Abuja where she unveiled SoapBoxNG, an event organised by the Initiative for Dialogue and Development [IDD].
The event was chaired by the former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon and attended by dignitaries from across the nation, including former Minister for Information, Professor Jerry Gana.
Eloquent human rights and environmental activist, Ms Annkio Briggs was also a guest speaker at the event which held in Sheraton Hotel, Abuja.
The event, a maiden edition of SoapBoxNG titled “RE-INVENTING OUR NATIONHOOD”, was aimed to add value to citizens’ commitment to the Nigeria project.
In her short speech before the unveiling, Dame Etiaba reminded Nigerians of the need to put national interests ahead of personal interests.
She said that Nigeria will work only if citizens always place national values ahead of personal and regional ones.
The programme produced 16 secondary school youths from 14 states, including Anambra, as SoapBoxNG Ambassadors.
The event has Dr. Christopher Kolade, Alhaji Abdulkadir Balarabe Musa and Prof. Anya O. Anya as Special Guests of Honour.
Lead speakers were: Prof. Jerry Gana, Nze Fidelis Chukwu, Engr. Buba Galadima, Ms Annkio Briggs and Prof. Adebayo Wiliams.

After the event, the former governor spoke briefly with Elombah.com on some issues revolving around the Anambra State governorship election coming up on November 18.
